OK, so my chuch here at home has always had lots of parking problems, and they own the piece of property right next to the church, so they’ve finally decided to pave it and use it for a parking garage. I live at the beach, and my church is about a block from the beach, so the people who live near our church have a teeny bit of an ocean view - really, it’s not even enough to count. They can maybe see 6 inches of blue. All the residents are pissed because they think that the new parking garage will block thier ocean view (which it won’t). They’ve all been complaining about it for weeks, so guess what someone finally decided to do?

THEY SET OUR CHURCH ON FIRE!!!!!!!

I am just livid. Who sets a church on fire? And it wasn’t even about anything that would be worthy of a fire anyways - there has been no scandal, our church hasn’t done anything morally or ethically questionable, nothing!

However, I do know that the reason the whole chuch didn’t burn down must have been a God thing. The lady who is always first into the church every morning lives way on the other side of town - about an hour and a half away. Lots of highway, and LOTS of streets with traffic lights and such. On the morning of the fire, every single light that she hit was green. It was so incredibly bizarre - there must be 25, 30 lights between her house and the church. As a result, she got to the church at 6:30 am instead of 7 like she usually did, and of course when she got there and saw the church in flames she called the police and the fire department. The police said that if she had been 10 minutes later, the entire church would have gone down. Instead, only a section of the entryway is burned. The main part of the church is just really smoky.

They’ve got both the state BI and the FBI working on figuring out who set the fire. It just sickens my heart to think that someone would consider their small glimpse of ocean a justifiable reason for burning down a House of God. Please say a prayer that they figure out who did it.

Here’s a local news article if you want to know more.

My goodness! That is awful! I’m glad your church didn’t burn down, though. Imagine all of the people that would be devestated. I hope they find the creep who did it.
