My mom called me 2 minutes ago and said that Daddy has “Autoimmune Hepatitis” . . .
What is that?
I’ve got a couple of links that I’ve listed below, but I’m still not really sure what it is, so if anyone has any more information, I’d appreciate it!

It sounds as though it is chronic but not fatal. He’ll need a lot of support. Not a happy diagnosis. My thoughts and prayers are with your entire family.
There is some decent information here, and as always with a rarish disease, take a look here. They tend to shoot a whole lot straighter than most medical websites. To whit, on the prognosis for AIH:
In about 7 out of 10 people, the disease goes into remission, with a lessening of severity of symptoms, within 2 years of starting treatment. A portion of persons with a remission will see the disease return within 3 years, so treatment may be necessary on and off for years, if not for life.
I came upon your blog page whist searching for something else. I was diagnosed with Autoimmune Hepatitis 15 years ago. I have researched a lot about this condition and have corresponded with several other AIH’ers. I hope your Father doing well. Now that he has a diagnosis he can start proper treatment which should make him feel better. Please be reassured that this condition is controllable and is not infectious. I’m happy to answer any questions that you have. Just email me to my hotmail address above.
