I was diagnosed with Autoimmune Hepatitis 15 years ago. I have researched a lot about this condition and have corresponded with several other AIH'ers. I hope your Father doing well. Now that he has a diagnosis he can start proper treatment which should make him feel better. Please be reassured that this condition is controllable and is not infectious. They tend to shoot a whole lot straighter than most medical websites. To whit, on the prognosis for AIH: <i>In about 7 out of 10 people, the disease goes into remission, with a lessening of severity of symptoms, within 2 years of starting treatment. A portion of persons with a remission will see the disease return within 3 years, so treatment may be necessary on and off for years, if not for life.</i> There is some decent information here, and as always with a rarish disease, take a look here.
