Suspension of Disbelief

Linux anyone?

As I mentioned a few days ago, the old computer is completely dead. This is bad because I lost everything.

However, today I realized that this could actually be good. Now that there is NOTHING on that computer, I can do whatever I want to it and not worry about losing data . . .

. . . including installing Linux.

I know NOTHING about Linux. I have always been curious, but my geek-y knowledge has not extended that far as of yet. But it’s going to now. Today I ordered CDs to install the Debian version of Linux (because that was the one that the linux.org site tutorial talks you through), so as soon as they arrive, I’ll begin working on that.

So this is an open call I am extending – HELP ME! All you people with Linux – what do you like about it? Any advice for a completely new Linux user? I want your know-how!

Blogathon 2006 Wrap-Up!

As tired as I am, that was a BLAST y’all! I feel like I met some really cool people, and everyone had some really interesting things to say! And, best of all, there was a TON of money raised for some truly wonderful causes.

Over here at Suspension of Disbelief I have been blogging for The Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. As many of you know, my mother is a breast cancer survivor. I also have MANY friends who either have had breast cancer or their mothers have had it. I have several friends who also have aunts and grandmothers who have had breast cancer. One of my friends from high school had to deal with his mother, three aunts, and grandmother all having breast cancer. My posts raised a total of $54! Here’s a little shoutout to my sponsors:

Bug @ An Indian Summer
Jason @ The Grubby Halo

It may have been a small crowd over here next year, but know what that says to me – I’ve just got a challenge for next year!

Thanks so much for a great 24 hours kids. It was DEFINITELY worth it!!!
