Words from a Working Woman

Well, today was day three of my brand new job at Starbucks! So far things have been going well. I have a looooot to learn, but I can tell that I will enjoy working at “the ‘bucks!”

Monday I had my “First Impressions” session. Aside from the typical paperwork and general company info, I also had my first coffee tasting! Starbucks employees are expected to taste all of the teas and coffees that are sold so that we can honestly talk about them and give our opinions of them (so, when you’re at the register and ask what a coffee is like, they’re speaking from experience, not a cue sheet!). It was a lot of fun. I’ve tasted three coffees at this point.

Tuesday I made my first beverage for someone! It was a tall coffee Frappuccino. Yeah, super simple, but that’s OK! I’ve made more cold beverages now . . . starting out slow seems like a good idea ;-) !

Today I worked the register for the first time! Ahhh, I got so frazzled, LOL! I had to repeat everyone’s order at least twice. But that’s OK, they let me work during a slow time so that I could take my time. And no one seemed to mind too much (though I did keep repeating that it was my first day on the register, LOL). No big goofups, so all in all I feel pretty good about it!

My next day is Friday . . . at 10 AM . . . and Friday mornings are the busiest time of the week . . . ahhhhhh!

In response to your comment on my post:
I am glad I made you think. I certainly know my Dad made me think this morning. And by the way this totally goes along with Chapter 4 of our book which talks about Jesus resisting temptation and thus allowing for human freedom and choice. Wed night 8:15 we can have a good discussion about it!!!

When are you working at the bucks next? I will come by and study.
