Harry Potter books – yay or nay?
I’m personally a resounding yay, but I’m curious to hear your thoughts . . .

Yay, yay, yay up through Book 5. Books six and seven left me cold. I now consider myself a Remus Lupin and Severus Snape fan instead of a Harry Potter fan. The last two just didn’t seem to fit in with the others, parts were too rushed, others too much.
Only two more hours to go!

Huh, I’ve never heard any one talk about it that way!
I think part of it is that I disagreed with her choices from a writer’s stand-point. I understand why she felt she had to make them, particularly in some of the deaths in DH. But, I think there were better ways to handle things. *shrug* I’m also a rabid fangirl, though. So that’s going to color my perspective, admittedly.

Personally the Harry Potter series is one of my all-time favorites, and even though I really enjoyed 1-6, the last third of DH made all the rest seem like a mere back-story.
There are a lot of philosophical leanings as well as being merely entertaining, and social “issues” to be thought about.
So I would vote a resounding Yay for Harry Potter books.
Yeah, I had a hard time slugging through Deathly Hallows, but it did complete the story!
