Theatre in 1949 (Blogathon ’09 #1)

Yay, Blogathon is finally here!!!  This year the theme that I am posting on is memorable shows from the past.  I’ve gone back about 60 years in history and created a list of shows that were either really important in theatre or that I personally really enjoyed.  Yes, I will be skipping some years.  It’s my blog, and I can do that, so :-P

First up is the Tony Award winner for Best Musical in 1949 – Kiss Me, Kate.  I personally think that this show is important because it introduced Shakespeare to new audiences in a completely different way (it is based on Taming of the Shrew).  Plus, Cole Porter’s music is awesome – and who doesn’t like the song “Too Darn Hot!”

This post is for the Blogathon 2009! I am blogging for The Actor’s Fund. For more information about what I am doing, please click here, or you can sponsor me!
