Well, I guess that I definitely needed a blogging break! I am so sorry it’s been forever since I posted - a few of you have been wondering where I am, but I really haven’t gone anywhere, I’ve just been busy!

Not too long after I stopped posting I started to hang out with a co-worker of mine a lot, and now we’re dating :-). His name is AJ, and he’s a really awesome guy. VERY different from anyone I’ve ever been interested in in the past, but it works somehow. We’ve been actually dating for about a week shy of 2 months now.

On top of that, I’ve also been hanging out with other new friends from work. It think I just needed a break from online life to adjust to my new life that is emerging here. Life in Winston-Salem is very different when you’re not encased in the little Wake Forest bubble, so I’m kind of discovering the city for the first time.

I did hear back from Florida State University about grad school - it was very frustrating because they said they’d get back to me in a week and a half to two weeks, and it actually took about SEVEN weeks, so by the time I got that email I almost didn’t care about what the answer was, I just wanted an answer at all! Which, unfortunately, was no. So that’s another thing I’ve been doing the past month or so . . . reevaluating where I want to go and what I want to do. At the moment I am intending to spend another year here in North Carolina. They got back to me so late about the theatre management program that it was too late for me to apply for any other graduate programs, so this coming year I will be taking another year off. But honestly, I don’t think it’s such a bad thing. I think a little more time to think things through would be good.

As far as jobs go, I LOVE working for Starbucks. It really is the awesome company to work for that everyone says it is. I thought that it had to be hype, but it’s not. I love this job - just had my 4 month anniversary with the company! And things have been going VERY WELL with working for E. Webscapes . . . I’ve just passed my 3 months with them! E. Webscapes is full of such awesome designers and staff members, they’ve really made me feel right at home!

I’ve traveled a little bit since I last posted - I went home at the beginning of April to join the Episcopal Church (#5 on my 101), and then I took AJ home with me in May to go to the TPC golf tournament. And this past weekend I went to Georgia to visit my mother’s mom (who is REALLY not doing well, so prayers that she finds comfort would be appreciated).

Also, I turned 23 this past Thursday (June 7), so I’m getting old, LOL!

A few little administrative things - I never marked of #46 on my 101, but I completed subscribing to and reading a newspaper, I closed down my Doodlebug website, so #74 is no longer an issue, and I forced AJ to sit down with me and watch all six episodes of Star Wars in a row, starting with Episode I. If you’re into Star Wars and haven’t done this, I HIGHLY recommend it. It’s a full day’s commitment, but my view of all the movies has changed, and I like the prequels more now. I think watching them like this allows you to see them the way that Lucas intended them to fit together. So yeah, nerdy moment over, #81 is completed.

What all have I missed with all of you? Hopefully I will be back to posting regularly now. I didn’t mean to leave everyone hanging high and dry! I’ve missed blogging!!! Please comment and let me know how all of you have been doing!

Why are mammograms not recommended for women under 40?
Mammography is a very effective breast cancer screening tool overall. However, it may be more effective at detecting tumors in older women than in younger women. Images on mammograms appear in gradations of black, gray and white, depending on the density of the tissue. Bone shows up as white; fat appears dark gray and cancerous tumors appear a lighter shade of gray or white.

Unfortunately, dense normal breast tissue can also appear light gray on a mammogram, which can make mammograms harder to interpret in younger women, since they tend to have denser breasts. After menopause, though, breast density usually begins to decrease, making the mammograms of older women easier to read.

Well, today is the Blog Tour of Homes! And, as promised, here is a tour of my home . . . or rather, my apartment ;-)!

1) Here is my front door. It’s crazy boring, because it’s an apartment complex. But, here it is anyway:

My Front Door

2) Next, my desk, where I usually blog. Though I do have a laptop, so I sometimes blog from my bed :-):

My Desk

3) Here is my living room. It’s still missing a chair (there are 2 green chairs, but one is at my parents’ house in Florida). Can you see the desk with the PC in the back on the left? That’s the home office of MagicMouth Productions - we’re still a work in progress ;-):

My Living Room

4) Here is my kitchen. And yes, those are my dishes in the sink. What, you thought I was gonna clean for you?!

My Kitchen

5) Though you already saw part of my bedroom when you saw my desk, here’s another angle:

My Bed

And here are allll my books - well, all the ones in North Carolina. I have this many at home in FL too, LOL!

My

So that’s my baby little apartment, LOL! There are 2 other bedrooms for Matt and Ben, but neither of them have moved in yet, so they’re just kind of storage for me right now. Thanks for looking around my home ;-)!

Thursday Thirteen

Thirteen Things about LINDSEY

1. Moved into the new apartment this week! It is freakin’ huge - it’s awesome. It almost feels live a small house instead of an apartment. Matt and Ben haven’t moved in yet (well, most of Matt’s stuff has, but that’s because it was at my apartment since he’s in Europe right now), so I’m trying to get all the kitchen stuff put away and the living room in order so that when they are ready to move in, it will be ready to go!

2. On Monday we leave for our European cruise! We are all sooooooo crazy excited!

3. Since I will not be in the country on a Thursday until mid-July, this may be my last Thursday Thirteen for a while. I will probably still be able to blog (there is wireless on the ship), but I doubt that I will have enough computer time to make up my TT, and it’s even less likely that that time will be on a Thurday. So . . . we’ll see. Don’t think I’ve abandoned you ;-)!

4. I’ve been trying to get more active in Bookcrossing.com. I always thought that it was a neat concept, but I never really got into it because I didn’t want to get rid of my books. I’m a bookophile (is that a word?), and the thought of leaving my books places was just terrifying. Then I sorted through a ton of my books and found some that I was going to give away anyway, so I released them. I think I may be addicted now - it is soooo rewarding.

5. In my process of rediscovering Bookcrossing.com, I learned that there is a huge community within Bookcrossing.com of people who trade books back and forth. What better way to get rid of one of your old books than to ship it to someone who has a book you want! You get a book that’s on your wishlist, and all it costs is the shipping price of your old book! One site dedicated solely to this is BookRelay. You must be a member of Bookcrossing.com to join, but I’ve already traded 3 books on this site - sooo cool.

6. As a part of getting the new place set-up, I finally got . . . my new computer. Yes, I still have, and primarily use, my laptop, but now I have a pretty shiny new Dell XPS 200 desktop PC! This completes #65 on my 101 in 1001. The PC is the center hub for all our networking in the apartment - not only is our wireless and networking for the 3 laptops run off of here, but it will also network our printers, the TiVo . . . it’s awesome. And, while it is definitely my computer (and Sims 2 and Star Wars KOTOR II will be installed soon), it is also the unofficial MagicMouth computer, so that we have a central place for all of THAT stuff! I’m excited ;-)!

7. Also as a part of the move, I’m sorting through all the papers, notes, and textbooks from my undergraduate classes. This completes #52 on my 101 in 1001.

8. I finally got my email all sorted out and organized. I did this a few months ago, but I’ve kept with it, so now I can cross off #63 on my 101 in 1001.

9. My mom bought us a table and set of chairs for the apartment . . . I mean, a really nice one. Pottery Barn. They are soooo gorgeous, I am in love. Look at them in the mahogany stain!

10. Ben has a pet ferret. His name is Bocephus (which also happens to be my little brother’s childhood nickname, how coincedental is that?). Bocephus is coming to live with us. Any suggestions on keeping my sanity? I’m very concerned about the smell . . .

11. I think I may have to try and convince my family to go to P.F. Chang’s once I get home tomorrow. We had it the day before I left home a couple of weeks ago, but the craving is strong already . . .

12. Does anyone know of any good websites to get rid of old textbooks? I know that you can do it on Amazon and Half.com, but I was wondering if there is some secret place that is good that I don’t know about. I have many that I really want to get rid of . . .

13. Today I will be spending the rest of the day sorting/organizing/cleaning the kitchen. If I’m not too exhausted by the end, perhaps I will work on my room some more. Wish me luck ;-)!
